Welp, another year, another crazy Halloween party at Sick Nicks.
I'm making a big pot of Chicken Gumbo for tomorrows trick or treating. Come over, bring a sixer and help me hand out candy.

Hitchcock

Just seeing this dudes face makes me think of all the late nights we'd stay up watching his half hour show made up of two or three mini scary movies. Alfred Hitchcock is a legend, I figured it would be a good week to pay honor to the king of freaking people out.
Speaking of freaking out, if you click on anything in this blog, watch this video. It's the famous Rat Person video from the Scare Tactics show.. They take this PETA activist guy, and bring him into an animal testing lab. Careful, your going to laugh your arse off.. it's hilarious.
Comedy Centrals "Motherload"
- The brief run down on this is Comedy Central will be launching a broadband based channel called Motherload. You can go to the site, and pick which show you want to watch. Originals, TV Shows, The Daily Show, Comedians.. etc. 50-80 new clips added each week. This is the future! They don't say how much this service will be, or if your required to have Verizon Broadband (the main sponsor), but you can bet they'll be some charge. But, think about it. If all stations do this (CNN, Food Network).. I wouldn't need cable anymore.
Google has a Blog! I'm sure I am probably the last guy to learn this (I'm a little slow), but wow. How sweet is that. I popped that RSS into my news feeder, and I'll be Google 'hip' from now on.
Free E-Books - E-Books are books that you have to read in probably PDF format. I guess that's cool, I remember when e-books first came out, they we're all the hype, and you had to pay for them. Now look what happened! Now you have to pay for Audio books.
Photoshop TV! - A video-cast full of Photoshop tips and tricks. If your lucky enough to have a Video iPod, download them straight to that, and watch the show while your jogging. :)
Tales of Mere Existence - this is a pretty dry but pretty hilarious video comic. I watched the one labled 'The Times I Have Smoked Pot'.. cracked me up.
Pumpkin carving tonight finally. Pumpkin seeds and Redwings vs. Chicago Blackhawks! woohoo! Oh yeah, I found a Halloween Costume too. But, you'll have to wait to see the pictures.. I can't disclose it just yet.

When a stranger calls...

This movie really freaked me out. Of course, my sister and I would watch it over and over again. If you haven't seen this, you need to! It's the old story of a guy pranking a girl baby sitting, over and over. She calls the cops. The cops trace the prank caller back to a room in the house.. turns out he was calling from upstairs and killed the kids. Just the kind of show young kids should be watching right?! We loved it.
I played hockey today, first time in ages. During warm up, I was skating around and I fell down on my hip. It HURTS bad.. I was practically limping around today. But, hockey was fun. I'm getting much better at watching it tho!
Not much for cool links today. I found this one that was quite interesting.
- Some researches say that men can have 'women's brains' and that women can think more like men. Take this test to find out where your at.
Check out this little game. I call it Aliens trying to hit each other on the head with beer cans
Decided not to go to Rollins.. I think I'm going to kick back, drink some Leinenkugel Oktoberfest (which I'm not too impressed with) - and watch Halloween for the 10th time this week.
Need a halloween costume!! Ideas?!!

Hitcher and Hockey

This movie scared the shit out of me. My sister and I would watch it over and over again, and each time it crept me out. I think rather then posting random scary movie pictures this week, I'll post pictures of movies that made me the paranoid person I am today.. sure Rob.. blame it on the movies! :)
I'm going to attempt to play hockey in the morning Wednesday. I've taken a 2 month break - I'm going to give it a shot, and maybe start skating a little more. Watching it on TV has really motivated me to play.
Speaking of hockey.. these guys are making this sitcom about a beer hockey league. Just like what I played in. I don't know if anyone else will find this as humorous as I do, but watch the video.. and if you like it, send them a note of support. Check it out: Beer League.
Find out how rich you are! According to this, I'm pretty poor: Global Rich List, but on the flip side, there are over 5 billion people poorer then me!
Just when you thought you've seen every website known to man - another one pops up. Urinal.net takes you on a tour of public urinals around the world. By the looks of some of these, there is an actual art in making urinals!
Everyone up for Rollins Wednesday night?
I think we're going to try and go. Here's a sample in case your on the fence. All for now. It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! is on tv tonight.. you better believe I'll be watching that!

TgiM!

Thank GOD its Monday!! Why?! I don't know.. I like to say that because it pisses some people off. But, it is another day, and if you look at it right, it's one day closer to Friday right?! Ok then..
I just ran a couple miles so I'm sweating like a hog, so I need to make this fast before I ruin my computer.. If I have time, I'll post a new horror movie picture each day this week in honor of my favorite holiday.. (thus the Jason pic!)..
1) Flash Drawing: This is pretty amazing. Draw through the browser.. send the file off to a friend, or replay your drawing. i think you can even replay it after its sent, and watch how the person drew it. Cool eh?!
2) Time and Date: Calculate how many days old you are.. according to his, I'm 11,085 days old! Dang.. that's freakin old!
3) Waterbed prank: This video made me laugh - this store played a prank on customers.. they put just a thin layer of mattress on this water/waterbed.. and the fun began. I was laughing so hard when i watched this.
4) Podiobooks: Free audio books.. donation suggested of course, but check it out - I didn't browse around much, but it was recommended on the Maccast podcast I listen to. Let me know if you find anything good.
5) Alias Podcast: This ones for Jen - she's a big fan of Alias. I prefer to watch it on mute.. but, this is a podcast devoted to Jennifer Garner and her big gut. Two words Garner.. Bud Light! haha.
Time for B-Dubs, and to celebrate my current reign as Fantasy Hockey champion.. of the week that is. Come on.. I never win! I need to enjoy this while it's happening!! :)
Later ya'll.

Pumpkins and stuff

Check out this extreme pumpkin website. I think I'm going to get some pumpkins this week and carve them up.. make up some pumpkin seeds too. It's been a while since I've done that. Anyone up for carving pumpkins and sluggin some beers?! Monday is a Redwings game and Wednesday is Henry Rollins in Ann Arbor.. I haven't decided if I'm going to go to that yet - I've never seen Rollins show, but I hear it's pretty good.
So what did I do this weekend?? A whole lot of nothing. I sat here, either watching hockey, surfing the net and watching football. My nephew Taylor stayed over Friday night, he was glued to Halo2 for like 15 hours straight. I did some lawn work.. dorked around with my camper and finally took him home in the afternoon. Saturday night I watched the Wings and Sunday, I made some magnificent crab omelets. We went to the new Kohls and I picked up some well needed dress clothes.
Tonight I watched Friday the 13th on American Movie Classics Monster Fest (See Full Schedule - Oct. 23-31). Great movie.. The Final Chapter is on next. I think I'm going to round up a party for Halloween night - Jen has to work, so I'll need some company to help me hand out candy. I'm going to be that 'rich guy' on the block this year and take a chance at handing out big candy bars. I usually only get 30 or so kids... so, I might try it. I always remembered those people.. and made it a point to go back every year. Of course, I skipped the people that gave out pencils and apples.. assholes. haha.
Check it out the Bacon of the month club.
Damn. If i could only read german, I could figure out how babies are made
Alright. That'll be enough for one evening. Don't forget about Nick and Aaron's party.. i still don't have a costume, but I'll think of something.
Happy Monday!

It is at the old Oak Grove Hall, on Mental Rd. off Nadeau Rd.
So if you're coming from Monroe St., go East on Nadeau over I-75 and across some R/R tracks, around a big curve, then you'll see a ball diamond on the left, and Mental Rd. on the right, turn right and follow down to the hall on the left. I think it's a brown building, and there's a ball diamond there too. I'll probibly go right from work, so people can follow me out there.

Aperture

Well, the rumors were true. Aperture, the latest Apple software was released today. By the looks of it, it seems like it's a maxed out version of iPhoto that does photo rendering/manipulation. The site has some cool quicktime demo's on it, so buzz around. We had hoped that the price tag would be a little better.. we were wrong.. $499. ouch! Maybe it's worth it.. I'll give it some time to see what everyone is saying about it.

On the way home today we stopped at my favorite place ever - Michigan Brewing Company at the Weberville Exit off 96. They have the best chili and beers. I picked up a mixed up sixer, one of them was their seasonal Pumpkin Spice Ale. I was a little leary of it, but I'm really, really impressed. It's nice and smooth, and has a hint of clovey/pumpkin flavor.. not too overpowering or sweet. Very good. I have a few others I'll review as I drink them.
Hearing Test - this is a real simple online test to check your hearing. I have a minor loss of hearing.. might have something to do with years and years in punk bands, and attending concerts... hmm.
Oh yeah, the video presentation we did in Lansing worked out great.. everything went smooth as butta. :) Hopefully I can show some of ya at some point.

State News - East Lansing, MI
Bryan and I are in East Lansing, MI for an ESOP meeting. We visited our friend Claire who works at the State News. Check out the latest pictures on my flickr site for more pictures.
Meeting in the morning, then back to Monroe. That's all I have for now. laterz!

Few things Tuesday..
Hangman anyone?!
A personality test that is worth doing. Three or four questions.
Control this guys Halloween lights from your computer!
Alright. Off to our state Capital to raise some hell. If i find some free wi-fi, I'll probably be back posting some pictures or whatever else trouble we find up there. Laterz!

Apple Photo Pro?

As much as I crack up at the Macintosh geeks that spend their time discussing what the next Apple release will be, I actually like the latest rumor.
Apple is (supposedly) set to release a photo retouching program comparable with Adobe's Photoshop. This article says it will be targeted at the photographer, more so then the creative designers. Very interesting. I was just thinking today that it would be cool if Apple bought Adobe. But, I think this move on Apple would make it easier for us to calibrate our monitors, and calibrate the photos to match our presses.. we'll see! Again, it's only a rumor - quit getting all excited!
I tell you what isn't a rumor. Rocky 6! Oh yeah.
Gorczyca (gor-sick-uh): White Mustard

When I first got this couch, I had a long talk with Henry about him not being allowed on it. See how much he listens to me?!
There is a boss at work that walks by me every day and says 'Hey Rob, What do ya say?'.. For the longest time, I felt the need to reply to him. So, I would say, 'well.. I don't say much'.. which sounded really weird. I figured out today, it's more of his way of saying 'hey dude, what's up?'.. Like, you don't really need to respond to that, it's just a passing by thing. So, there you have it. I've decided I will no longer respond when he says that to me. I figured you all should hear this, it's my way of proclaiming I found yet another answer to lifes many questions. :)
Alice at work brought me a brochure she found. I have no clue what language it's in, but it says my last name a bunch! There are pictures of obscure items like sleeping mats, and knee braces.. some are labeled 'Gorczycowe'.. I emailed them to ask if i can get some royalties. :)
From ancestor.com:
gorczyca
Polish: metonymic occupational name for a mustard grower, from gorczyca ‘white mustard’.
That explains my fetish for hot things. Type your own last name in and run the search. The site froze up on Stoianowski! haha.
I'm sure you've seen this, it's chalk drawings gone mad. If you haven't, check it out. It's VERY cool.
Going to Lansing tomorrow afternoon until Wednesday. Bryan and I are setting up early for this presentation on Wednesday - then Tuesday night hopefully roaming the city. I think we might go check out the State News to see an ol' intern and to check out their new location in a retired Gap outlet store.

Goodbye weekend.

Well, Bowling Green lost to Boston. The game was action packed, BG was down like 4 pts., came back and tied it up 6-6. Boston ended up scoring three more goals toward the end of the third period. We headed over to Frickers for some yummo chicken wings.
iTunes 6.0 has been released. The new feature is video. You can buy music video's for $1.99, and tv shows too. They haven't released movies yet, but when they do, I'll be buying one. The only thing I'm concerned about is the quality of them.
Want to learn how to make drinks? This is a completely bizarre video cast / blog that has been called the 'adult pee wee playhouse'.. I watched one episode and was impressed. Check it out: Tiki Bar TV.
A couple interesting news articles for you: Trick to Remembering Names of People you meet and Spam King Alan Ralsky raided at his West Bloomfield home. I hope this cuts down on the junk email I'm getting!!
I have nothing else to post. I ran 8 miles straight today so I'm jello. I had all kinds of motivation throughout the day, but eventually my body started feeling more and more sluggish.. That's what running that much will do! I find it hard to believe people run 30 mile marathons.. It'll be some time before I reach that. Anyhow, I'm feeling like a sack of potato's.. so, I'm OUT! ----> Here's a pic of Jen and I at the BGSU game.. she MADE me take it. :)

Saturday rules.

Apparently, MSU lost. I fell asleep. I wore the jersey around all day for them.
I listened to a radio show, MSU was predicted to lose, and Michigan was predicted to win. We'll see if they are right on with Michigan.
The hockey game last night was fun. I drove up to Ann Arbor, waited in the traffic line, found my usual parking spot, and hiked it up to Yost. I picked out my usual seat and ate a nutritious dinner of a Pepsi and a bag of peanuts. Pretty soon, I was surrounded by hardcore Michigan hockey college kids. I was a bit rusty at the chants and cheers.. but I caught on quick. I couldn't help but think all these kids we're like 'dude, who's the old guy?!'..
Later on I buzzed around town. You could feel the tension, there were drunk Penn State guys walking around chanting 'Go State'.. and groups of Michigan fans chanting 'Go Blue'.. I'm sure it got ugly. A group of Penn State boys asked me where the bars were.. I told them I don't know. The bad part was, I was wearing my Michigan hockey jersey. DOH! Needless to say they all had some choice words for me.
Wow, Toledo had some action today. Neo Nazi's come into a black neighborhood and are like 'what the heck!' when violence breaks out.
Tonight, it's church at 5:15 p.m., then BGSU hockey. They are playing Boston (who Michigan played last night). Should be a good game. Redwings are on at 10 p.m. - I tried talking Jen into going out and watching it, but I think that was just too much for one evening.
Check it out, my nephew got a haircut.

Alright. All for now. The pictures from today's post are from my new LG VX8100 Verizon Cell phone.

The weekend has arrived!

I sent this out to everyone at work. It's a new technology created by the German company Siemens, who makes crappy cell phones. This looks pretty sweet tho - it's paper thin video. So, in the future, newspapers and magazines will have video commercials in them! Awesome!
I saw Lords of Dogtown yesterday. I'd recommend it, it was really good. It's like a history lesson if you used to be hardcore into skating. I remember when I was a kid, some of the dudes portrayed in this movie were only legends to me - I heard about them, but never heard much about how they got started. I dug it though.
Well, what's on tap this weekend? I haven't decided what I'm going to do, but here's what I'd like to do:
Tonight: UofM hockey vs. Boston College! Yost arena is the best. But, it's on Comcast on tv - so, I might save some bucks and watch it at home. If you stop by, I'll be wearing my Michigan jersey.
Saturday: 3:30 p.m. UofM football vs. Penn State. Should be a good game, hard to say what's going to happen. 7:00 - BGSU hockey plays Boston College. Then at 10 p.m., The Redwings play Anaheim! You can't get any better then that!
Oh, by the way, the Mountain Dew guy that was drinking a Dew every ten minutes gave up. He put down 93 cans, then puked. :)
HOLY Crap! I'm a star!! Look!!
Well, have a good weekend ya'll.

The mini-bike days.
I remember when I was a kid, my sister and I would go to our cousins house and ride their four wheelers. So, we'd come home and complain forever about wanting a four wheeler. My dad, who couldn't afford a four wheeler, went out and got us this beat up old mini-bike frame and slowly pieced together a sweet mini-bike for us to ride. It was completely black, with this big huge white seat. I remember sitting in the garage and staring at it before it was finished imagining how I was going to jump ramps with it.
The day finally came when the mini bike fired up, and my dad took it for a test ride. I don't remember who went first, my sister or me, but when it was my turn, I climbed on it.. got my seating position, reached up and grabbed the handle bars. I felt a lot of power holding on to those handlebars staring down the road.
My goal was to sail down the road and wave at the neighbors like I was a bad ass. That's not what happened. In all my anxiety to ride the thing, I didn't listen to my dad as he was giving me instructions on how to ride this thing. He was talking in my ear as the engine rumbled (lawn mower engine) beneath me.. I was off in another land. Finally, i felt him pat my back and say go. At that point, I grabbed the throttle and yanked on it as hard as I could.
What a sweet ride that was. I went about 20 ft. I was almost off the back of the thing when I hit the chain link fence at full speed. I flew up and nailed the fence, and the front of the bike went under the fence. I biffed it good. I came down, went inside and didn't ride the thing for months.
My dad talked me into taking rides on it to see how its done, which I agreed to. He would sit behind me, and I would hold onto the front of the steel handle bars. We would go up and down the road, and I would keep a close eye on how he ran the throttle.
I grew up on a dirt road. The road commission would put stones on it once a year.. maybe. The road would become riddled with potholes. I knew where they all were too, because all I did all summer long was ride my dirt bike up and down that road jumping over the potholes.
This one time, I'm on the front of the mini-bike, my dad on the back. We're coming up this little hill at the end of the road. I still remember seeing that pothole from about 10 ft. away, and saying the word 'pothole'.. I guess I didn't say it loud enough. We hit that pothole with vengeance. The complete front tire sank in it causing an extreme jarring motion for us riders. Apparently, we were jarred so much, that we pushed too hard on the handlebars. They snapped.
The mini-bike came out of the pothole, but at this point there was no steering. I can see it all now in slow motion. The front tire just started this wiggling back and forth really fast. Eventually (well, probably in seconds) it went completely sideways, sending me and my dad lunging forward off the front of the thing. My dad landed on me and I banged up my knee pretty good. I don't even remember how we got the mini-bike home, but I remember after that, I didn't much like that thing. I stayed off of it for a year.
Eventually, I rode it, dug it and burnt my leg on the engine.

DO NOT RENDER!

I learned something the hard way today. Apparently, in iMovie HD, there is a glitch. When you export to iDVD, it will ask you to render (see above picture). The description leads you to believe that you have to render, and that it's for the best. Well don't do it!! We've spent hours and days on this video project - all done in iMovie. Clicking that button destroyed all of my photos. I had to go in and re-import everything! So, I'm working on my second 14 hour day in a row.. I think I've fixed the problems.
Since Apple dicked me over today, I'm not going to blog about the new ipod video, that all the other mac junkies are blogging about today. :)
Alright - sorry for the bitching.. let me continue with my regular blogging material.
If your reading this blog, your probably surfing the web while at work, as you do quite often, and sometimes have trouble getting back into the groove of working.
Well, you need to check out the Procrastination Hack. This guy has created a method for staying focused at work. Give it a shot!
Wow check out this free music site: FreePlayMusic - perfect if your seeking some background music for a video or podcast.
Dang! The Alfred Hitchcock movie Charade (1963) has been posted on Archive.org for all to enjoy! Buzz around that site if your bored, there are plenty of other movies to download.
I should mention, as I do quite often, that I get a bunch of my links from Digg.com
Funny story from TheOnion about a dude that unexpectedly gets a girlfriend.
I think I sent this to some of ya, but it's so funny. This dude sold his leather pants on ebay.. read the description.
And finally - be sure to check out the DewEveryTen site I posted yesterday. He started today at 11am, and has been drinking Mountain Dew's every 10 minutes! Sounds like a fun dude.
Alright. I'm making a back up copy of this movie, burning it to DVD, then going home for a nap.
Laterz.

So long Tuesday.

The picture above is our maintenance guy at work, Steve. Apparently, he doesn't like his picture taken.
Why would you want to drink a Mountain Dew every ten minutes? Checkthis out.
Has anyone been using the new Google RSS Reader? I use Newswire Lite. It's a little program that you just paste feeds into and it picks up and bundles everything into one package. So, all of the sites I normally read, I have feeds set up to, so I don't even have to surf and wait for pages to load. I dig it. The thing I don't like about Googles, is that I still have to wait for the page to load - not that it's long, but newswire is instantaneous - and it pops up a little red icon when any new feed comes in.
Anyhow, check out whats going on over at gHacks.net - they show you how to do a google search for and download: Movies, eBooks and Mp3's. I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon - and let you know what I find!
Signing off for now. Tomorrow is TACO day at work! woohoo!

Candy from heaven

Camping this past weekend was fun. It wasn't as cold as I imagined it would be. We got set up in the dark on Friday night, and got a nice warm fire going. We sat around and played guitar and sang songs. We spent a good amount of the weekend looking over our new summer home (we're getting a permanent site for the summer next year). The lot is huge, and should be able to fit a bunch of tents for our weekend visitors.
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing. We saw the kids all trick or treating around the campground, went to the haunted trail, and met the werewolf with his funky hands that he was so proud of.
What would you do?
Lets say its late, your out by the campfire partying it up, a golf cart comes zooming by. It hits a bump and something comes flying off. You go and inspect it. You find out its a big ol' bag full of trick or treating candy. You think about the hard work that the kid went through to go to each campsite to collect their prizes, but then you think about the drunk irresponsible parents, zooming around on the golf cart with a big bag of candy sitting on the back edge. And, what are the chances the bag of candy would fall right in front of your campsite?! And, do you really have the time to go around to each site to find out who's bag of candy this is?
Well, needless to say, we feasted on candy. I have some to share, stop by! :)
Have a good week ya'll.

Did you say camping?!
Yeah, that's right. I think we're going camping this weekend. It'll be the last camping trip of the year. It's supposed to be dern cold, so I'm taking plenty of blankets and the little plug in heater. The dogs should love it, I say the word 'camping' now, and both of them get all crazy excited. Jen's dog Daisy will run and climb into the truck and won't get out.
I think next year we're going to get a permanent site at the campground - just to try it for a season. This year we went a bunch of times, but it was a real drag bringing the camper back and forth each time - not to mention the gas we went through in the truck. So, I'm going to officially have a second redneck home.. where I'll be every weekend partying it up with other campers who are all twice my age.
Just a note - we found Dan. He showed up at B-Dubs last night, and I think he even did a shot of something. The Wings won. I asked this couple sitting next to me at the bar, I said 'Hey, are you here to watch the Red Wings?'.. the guy shouts back 'No, we're here for the Chicken Wings'.. :)
Don't forget - Friday is the deadline for the Yahoo Fantasy Hockey League.. so if I missed anybody.. email me and I'll get you signed up to rank your players - Draft is Friday night!
Have a GREAT weekend.

Dan Eizans - M.I.A.
Where's Dan been?! He left the News for Crains and doesn't come around anymore. :( Actually, I couldn't figure out what picture to post today, so I decided to use Danny boys.. the time he drank way to many 22oz cans of beer, then topped it off with a Bud Select that Aaron bought him. haha. Good times. But him and Molly have been MIA lately.. busy I suppose!
Check this out - it's called the TV-B Gone, you can take it to restaurants and turn off any tv with it. I don't know why i still like to do childish things like this, but dang I want one of these!!

TGIM

So it's 6:45am, I just finished my morning run, I'm sitting down eating my cottage cheese, listening to songs on the Pod Safe Music Network when my cell phone rings.. I realized when i read the caller id, it was Vicki from work, I was supposed to pick her up at 7am! With my speedy super hero skills, I was showered, dressed and out to the car in 7 minutes. Shewf.
As I was looking for a link I heard on Diggnation this morning, I ended up finding a few other funny stories worth linking. So check them out, and enjoy.

Tips on staying awake: I'm not in college anymore, so this one isn't very useful to me, the only reason I would need to stay awake would be to finish the last of a keg that I vowed I wasn't going to sleep until it was gone..

Layer Cake

Rented this movie last night, it was really good. But like all of the english mobster flicks, I'll need to watch it four times before I figure out what they are saying. Directed by Matt Vaughn and written by Chris Barsanti - from the previews and even after watching it, I thought it was a Guy Ritchie movie. From what I read, Guy Ritchie was set to direct the film, but had to back out due to other commitments. If you liked Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, your going to love Layer Cake.
