Another day off, another list of fun links I've ran across in my hours of surfing. I'm sure you can find something in the list below to occupy your time - for those of you suffering at work today. :)
Oh yeah, the picture is of my nephew Collin. A pair of Jen's shoes kept him busy for a half hour!
I think we all need a little of this: How to be more productive
And if your really bored - be sure to watch the new years clock tick down.
Trade your cd's in for an ipod! I bet they're looking for mainstream albums. I might try this though - but if the cd's get lost in the mail, there goes all of them. hmm.
How's it feel to win the lottery?!
Check this video out. This blog has become one of my favorites. Check this link out, he mentions me!!

And while I'm on the food subject, just look at all of the good things about bananas. Just don't dry them out and smoke them. Trust me... no good.
Zen Animal Games - my favorite is the Worm Battleship.
Here's something else we could all use: memory improvement techniques - man, I almost forgot where the link to that site was! harhar.

Heaven
If there's anything to snap me out of being sick, I knew it would be Rudy's Hot Dog. A chili dog, fries and a cold beer - what more can you ask for?!
We visited Lee Williams House of Meats, and picked up some grub for New Years. Stopped at Rudy's, then The Fish Market. We ended up swinging by my sisters and picking up my 1yr old nephew - I'm sitting him for the evening. Oh yeah, we also managed to pick up my deer meat on the way home. I stuffed it all in the freezer. The deer this year was smaller, and I swear I have a ton more meat.

I have some links to post, but I think i'll save them for later.. I can tell this kids going to keep me on my toes for a while...

My vacation posting
On vacation, and still getting over my illness. I don't know what the heck I had, but it's taking me a while to recover. I'm glad I had this week off work. Half of my time has been spent on the couch sleeping. Today we finally went out to the store.. I didn't last too long, I was back, on the couch when we got home. So far, we've watched the movies Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Home Alone, The Bourne Supremecy, Spinal Tap and some Out of Africa movie, which I fell asleep 5 minutes into. There's probably more.. this week has been a blur. I have been reading my RSS's - here's some of the best:
Ever wondered where that band got their name? Check this listing out:
Band Names Origin
Pimp my Snowman!
I was going to try this out, but decided to use my gift card. I have another one I still might.. if I do, I'll let everyone know how good it works. But, what a great concept! Gift Card Swap!
Wow.. check out all the options on this cell phone: New cell phone - multi-tasking commercial
I don't know who Terry Tate is, but you've got to watch this - it's freakin hilarious. Every office needs one of those!!

This guy lights a candle from a fart. Just the kind of entertainment I'm enjoying on my brain dead vacation.

Alright. I suppose that's it. What is everyones plans for New Years? I haven't heard any positives yet - I don't know if I'll be up to drinking by then, maybe I'll buy myself a couple 40's of Egg Nog and get CRAZY. :)

I got-er-done!
Boy was she a fighter too. Took 46 pumps the first shot, and57 pumps the second to take-er down. Both were nose shots. I read in a book if you hit a deer square in the nose, you can kill it. Notice the high powered scope on that bb-gun. Yep. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have been able to nail this doe in the nose from 100 yards away, 50 ft up in a tree stand.
Ok, so I'm not very good at my story yet, but I'll polish it up a bit. Eventually, like last year, the story of how Rob got a deer when he doesn't hunt, turned into me wrestling it down with my bare hands.
I dropped it off this morning and will be eating deer steaks by the weekend! woohoo!!

Merry Christmas Eve!

So I've been sick the past couple of days. Not just a normal cold, but a slight case of the flu. I can deal with a cough or a sniffly nose, but when I get a fever, I'm pretty much useless. My brain feels like a train wreck today, but I can tell there is no fever going on finally - and I'm able to actually look at my computer. Today's the first day I've been on in a while (deja vu - I spent all morning typing up this blog, then my monitor decided to go out - its back on but we'll see how long it lasts - I think it might have to do with the big new giant dent in the top of it), I read through all my RSS feeds and found some good ones for ya'll:
Click on the picture above to watch the very first south park cartoon, done while the creators were still in college.
I'm sure we've all received gifts like these, but we weren't as vocal as this guy - this is hilarious. Crappy Christmas gifts from kids.
Sudoko has been labeled the next tetris. I hear it's pretty addicting, but I have yet to play it. Here's something to keep you addicts happy: Hand held Sudoku game
I have seen a ton of bands in my days. Some of them wouldn't have been so bad, if only their instruments were in tune. Well, looks like this should have that problem solved: Self tuning guitar
I don't know what to think about this: Pictures of Osama Bin Ladens niece
Alright, that's all I have the energy for now. Have a good holiday everyone. I'm off work all next week, so either I'll be a posting mad man, or I won't be posting much at all. I'm hoping to make it to Grand Rapids for a Griffins game. Dan filled me in on places to go, but I forgot them all. Founders brewing is the one place I remembered..

Tuesday post
For the past month I've been listening to Metallica on the way to work at full blast.
Here will be my choice this morning: Better then a cup of coffee!
Did anyone see last nights hockey game? Redwings Vs. Columbus? Best game of the year I'd have to say. I'm really disappointed in Federov's last shot, it was weak - he did get two assists though, so that made up for it I suppose - check out today's column on Sergei in the Free Press.
Anyhow.. here is what I did from 5:30 a.m. til 7 a.m. -
Check this out - this guy listed each of the girlfriends he's had, and describes them. Very funny.

Check out this visual java drawing page.. pretty sweet.

I wondered what happened to Dave Chappelle:

I'm a sucker for online pool games. Here's one that as on digg.com earlier.
Pool Craziness!

That's all folks. Happy Wednesday.

Twenty Four Hours to go!

Not very often would I transfer pictures from my cell phone, to my vtext (verizon), to my flickr, to my blog.. dang blogspot, get your shit together! But, I did this time. Just to show you some pictures of our Tuesday night hangout session.
Aaron is displaying his new t-shirt (the man, the legend), and Dan is taking pictures of me taking a picture.. wow, that's deep. Anyhow, check this video out. Man this song brings back memories.

O Christmas tree..

I can't believe it. This will be the first year that I can remember NOT having a Christmas tree. At this point, there really isn't much sense in draggin out all of the decorations and going to the tree farm to chop one down. I'll wait until next year. So, for now, this will be my tree.. it's going to be difficult to put gifts under it..
I had the day off today, it was a pretty good day. I got some well needed shopping done and relaxed. I made a pork loin today too that turned out killer - the secret sauce was made up of Sierra Nevada beer, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, oregano and chili powder.
I know this week will be busy, so this post should last you all week. Take your time, there are plenty of damn good links to hit up. If I get time, I'll post.. but chances are slim.. so here goes:
I can't find birthday cards on the internet anymore. I think everyone realized there was no money in them, and pulled all the good ones. So, next best thing - Google Images search. Here's one of the top pictures: Happy Birthday!
Pilsbury doughboy drops a dook - I don't get it, but man its funny.
If you watch any of the videos here today, watch this one.. man its awesome!
Urban Ninja's! - dudes jumping off buildings and doing all these crazy flips at the mall.
Gummy bear porn - the name says it all.
Many faces of Michael Jackson - a google video that takes you through the history of Mj's faces...
Mousetrap to the nose! damn that had to hurt.
I know you all did the Robot back in the breakdancing days.. don't deny it. This guy rules at it.
The Beer Belly! - wow check this out. A canteane like contraption that you fill your with your favorite beer, bring it to a ball game, and save money! The cool part about it is it gives you a big beer belly.
Have yourself a filthy little christmas - a nice holiday punk song.

I posted pics on my flickr site of our trip to Kansas City, Missouri. This is one of them.. :)
Letter to Chipotle

Now that I'm 30, I feel the need to write letters to company if I have a question, or feel dissatisfied with their service. Most of the time I don't hear back. But, when I do - I'll post the replies. My favorite was when Dunkin Donuts sent me 2 lbs of coffee (I yelled at them for closing all of their Monroe locations). Here's one from Chipotle's.
Comments:
I had the pleasure of visiting my first Cipotle's in Chicago a few months back. I have a friend in Denver who won't stop talking about your food, so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Infact, I liked it so much, that I'm up at 3 a.m. pleading for you to consider a location in Michigan. I live in Monroe, Mi - I understand that a location here might not be feasable yet, but Ann Arbor, MI is a prime location for a Chipotle's.
Thank you for inventing such a wonderful restaurant, I look forward to sinking my teeth into a black bean taco again very soon.
Sincerely,
Rob Gorczyca
==================
Rob,
We have no plans for Houghton, but East Lansing will open sometime around Feb or March. The 6753 Orchard Lake Rd location, if all goes to plan will open on the 7th of January. We'll be coming up all over very soon.
Sincerely,
David Chrisman

My dude

Here's Collin - my nephew. He picked up my hat, put it on and walked up to me. When he was a baby, I used to put my stocking caps on him all the time.. I wonder if he remembered. Anyhow, I love to look at his picture and imagine how easy that dudes got it right now. The most he has to worry about is how he's going to knock that shiny object off the table, or get food when he's hungry. I think retirement will sort of take us back to a child like state won't it?! No worrying about the day to day rush. We'll get up in the morning, relax, eat, nap, relax some more, nap some more.. just like we did as kids. Can you tell i've had a rough week at work ?! I'm talking about retirement! Only 30 more years to go! woohoo! Anyhow, that's all for now.. just wanted to post something - i know if I didn't while i had a few moments, I wouldn't at all this week. It's been the week from hell at work, actually, the past few weeks have. I've done zero christmas shopping, and haven't had much of a life, mainly because i've been at work til all hours of the night everynight.. including weekends. Just when I'll be about to crack, is when my week off after christmas will rejuvinate me. I can't wait! Oh - and everyones getting gifts a week after christmas this year.. :)

Brain dead.

Another weekend down the tubes. I've said it before, the older I get, the more I appreciate and savor every minute of my weekend. This weekend was pretty fun. Friday Jen and I did some Christmas shopping, Saturday I worked some, then we all went to see Bad Boy Plague, a local band. They were pretty good, but it was a lot of metal cover songs. They sounded great though, and I hadn't saw a band in, heck, years.. so it was fun to stand up there shaking my fist to some head banging music.. brought back memories of the ol' concert days. My sister was trying to explain to me that tap beer really is different. Today I woke up and will have to agree with her.. my brain was done for all day today. I don't know how many pitchers we had, but I came home with more money then I left with - I'm not quite sure how that happened.
Anyhow, here are some links for your viewing pleasure:

My trip to the needle room

Wednesday, December 7, 2005
6:50 a.m. - Jump out of bed. I was supposed to be at Mercy Memorial for a blood test that my doctor told me I should take. It was a 5 hour blood sugar test. Don't ever tell your doctor you are feeling light headed..
7:05 a.m. - I arrived at the hospital and registered with a nurse.
7:30 a.m. - The first blood withdrawal was taken. Didn't hurt much, I figured this was going to be easy. The ladies in the outpatient lab were really nice.
8:00 a.m. - Second withdrawal of blood. This time they made me drink this awful sugar water. 'You have 5 minutes to drink it, but don't gulp it'.. so, i gulped it.
8:30 a.m. - Third withdrawal of blood. Now my vein was starting to hurt.
8:45 a.m. - Now I started to get bored. My next deposit wasn't until 9:30 a.m. So, I started text messaging Jen and some friends. I read through the a few pages of the December issue of Ready Made magazine (great read - check it out).
9:30 a.m. - Fourth blood withdrawal. The lady was surprised that I kept offering the same arm. I didn't think I had a choice, but I wanted to be tough - so I didn't budge. This one hurt. Dang I hate needles, but I didn't flinch. Next to me was this 300 lb black dude. He looked like he was solid muscle, a football player or something. Fancy dressed too. As soon as they rolled his sleeve up, he started complaining about being a big baby. Pretty soon all the nurses were having fun with this, and treating him like a baby. Maybe I should have tried that.. dang.
9:45 a.m. - Now I had to wait til 10:30 a.m. for my next needle. A young mom walked in with her kid - I knew this was going to be bad. As soon as she went to the needle room, there was a huge outburst of wailing - I bet they hadn't even taken the needle out yet. I cranked up the ipod almost to full blast so I wouldn't have to think about those childhood shots.. man those were the worst thing EVER!
10:30 a.m. - Fifth blood withdrawal. This one hurt like a bitch! I think I even flinched. I don't think the nurse put the needle in right, because damn the whole time she was drawing the blood I was in pain.
10:35 a.m. - I returned to my seat and just sat there watching people for a while. Some old guy was in there talking to another old guy that he knew. I noticed he had half of a pointer finger. I was imagining how he lost it, maybe at work or something. What was funny, was he was one of those really close talkers.. and his friend was sitting down, he was standing up - but he was still leaning in telling a story. The odd part was, he kept poking this guy in the arm with his stub finger. Weird!
11:00 a.m. - At this point, I had the ipod cranked, another kid - this time like a 2 yr old was in the room screaming his head off - I couldn't drown him out. I had completely read through my magazine and was pretty bored. The sugar drink was giving me a massive headache. I sat there and listened to a nurse whining about how she brought soup, and didn't bring a can opener.
11:30 a.m. - Sixth blood withdrawal. This time I had a nurse that knew what she was doing. It was quick and painless. 'One more hour!' she said as I went back to my seat. For the next hour I sat writing up a list of family members I plan to buy christmas gifts for. I didn't get very far, I kept running out of ideas.
12:30 p.m. - woo hoo! The needle room was full of people, so I waited at the door for a bit. An old lady led me to my seat and sat me down, made me sign some paper saying I would not come back on the hospital if I drove out of there and crashed from passing out. Then she made me swear I'd eat something before returning to work (yeah right lady, I had to run home, shower, throw on a tie, and be at a meeting I called by 1 p.m.) - I agreed I would and she proceeded to poke my arm with the needle.
Now, by this point, my vein is hurting, and this one didn't hurt so bad going in, but here comes the bad part. She pulled the tube back.. and I'm watching.. only a tiny bit of blood comes out. So she says, looks like we tapped this vein out! I was getting pissed off.. she kept tapping the vein and the end of the needle saying 'come on darnit.. why isnt any blood coming out?'.. So, being the tricky nurse she is, she begins moving the needle left and right. If this wasn't an uncomfortable feeling, i don't know what is.. feeling that needle, in my vein .. moving from side to side.. YOW. Finally, she got it to draw.. and I was done.
I hauled ass out of there, and made my 1 p.m. meeting.

ASAP
I should start posting the letters I write to companies. The older I get, the more I feel I need to share my opinion with others. Holy shit i'm turning into an old man.
This letter is about the Associated Press - they have a new news site, that is supposed to be geared toward a younger audience. I love the site, and the content, and would love to read it on a daily basis, but I can't!! Read why:

Your website will not work, until you RSS the stories.
I really dig ASAP - but, I'd like to be able to put your RSS feed into my news reader, so I could read the site on a daily basis. I think we'll see this is going to be a trend in internet future - I'm finding I don't surf around near as much as I used to - I have all of my news websites packaged in a bundle for me. I use Net News Wire. But, Google has just released an RSS feeder, and I hear Yahoo is about to release the same thing.
Now, if I'm missing it, and you do have the site RSS'd, excuse the above and let me know how and where to sign up!
Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Let it snow...

Hey.. the civic hit 200,000 miles!
Wow - what a weekend. I wrote up the below on Saturday night, then woke up about 3 a.m. on the couch - I must have been tired. I never made it past putting links in this post. Now its Sunday evening, and I'm finally getting back around to it.. so here goes:
We didn't have much to do Saturday, so we drove to Dundee and hit up the fairly new Lonestar restaurant. For some reason, I was expecting something really good. What I got, was the same thing I could have had at Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays.. etc. It's just another one of those chain fast food sit down places. The girl at the bar did let me flip around for Hockey Night in Canada, which - they had Direct TV, and they didn't even get the Canadian station. So much for ever getting Direct TV.
They forgot to charge me for one of my 3 - 21oz Labatts. They didn't forget about the $4.50 Sam Adams bottle. I had the ribs (nothing compared to KCMO's), and jen had some shrimp noodle thing. The atmosphere was nice, we sat up at the bar and chilled. I kept thinking I was at Applebees the whole time.
I've been feeling funny the past couple days.. like a cold or flu wants to take over my body, but I'm fighting it. It's been working.. but everyday around 5pm, my head starts feeling really light.
Last night we rented the Longest Yard (sandler), and Kicking and Screaming. Will Farell rules - his movie was great. The Longest Yard sucked really bad. It was as predictable as the rest of his movies. Awful acting, awful plot, awful everything.
Gas on Monroe St. earlier today was like $2.11. We just drove by it, it's at $1.91. Crazy it went down that much in a matter of hours.
Here are some links for your viewing pleasures:

If you have a few minutes, load this up and get a good laugh. It's titled SupaMonks. I never knew monks had this much ass kicking power in them!
I want this. So much that I think i'm going to get it for someone for christmas.. man I hope they aren't reading this. Marshmellow Shooter.
And last, but not least.. if you can stomach this.. a fairly large woman exercising. Hey.. at least she's being active.. right?! click here.
