Dear Trader Joes..

Another letter from yours truly complaining about little things that annoy me..

Dear Trader Joes:
I was recently at the Trader Joes in Ann Arbor for my first time. Awesome store, but a bit too crowded for my tastes. I picked up some Holiday Blend coffee while i was there and loved it. I decided since I'm kind of far from Ann Arbor to go on your website and order some coffee. I must be missing something.. I can't find where to order on your site. Tell me its possible!! In this day and age, it has to be possible!! eh? Thanks in advance for listening.

Detroit Turkey Trot 2006!

Rob: 10k - 6.20 miles: 42:30 - 25th place in my age group (376 people). 6:50 per mile pace.
Jen: 5k - 3.10 miles: 34:37 - 36th place in her age group (99 people).
Results link (click)

Left for Detroit at 5:30 a.m. Glad we got there early, the place filled up quick. From what I heard over 7000 people ran. We pushed our way up to the front of the starting line and waited for the horn (which the horn broke and didn't really honk like it was supposed to).
The run went pretty well, I kept a pretty steady pace throughout - keeping it under a 7 min pace, which is pretty good for me. Just when the run started to seem long, the six mile marker came, which I knew the finish line was right around the corner. I sprinted the last .20 to the finish.
Pretty fun run. We stayed for some of the parade afterwards. Pictures to come..
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thursday..!

Well, since I've been getting into the holiday spirit by listening to Christmas music everyday (sorry Jen), I figured I'd post this wonderful version of the classic holiday jingle "O Come all Ye Faithful". Wow.. i hope that's my internet that takes it a month to load.
I've had a busy week, so posting links hasn't been on the top of my agenda, but i managed to remember a few links. Check out this funny tattoo this dude got. What the heck was he thinking.
I haven't seen the movie yet, so I shouldn't be complaining about the guy too much, but I can tell you I'm mildly annoyed by this Borat character. I laughed when I saw he recently got his ass kicked on the streets of New York for playing his character to someone who didn't find him very funny. Ha. Funny guy. Take that.
Want to impress the family over the holidays? Try out one of these magic tricks posted on AskMen. They're supposed to be easy tricks.. we'll see.
Wow, a really sweet skeet shooting game. I can't get anywhere on level 2.
I posted a link about the Beer Belly a while back (I never did buy it - I'm still good at loading up a sixer in my baggy pants) - But here is the newest in sneaky beer drinking technology - the Sit N Sip. Come on now, this is getting a little crazy. This is more like a purse that holds 8 beers worth of liquid.
I saw this guys former band. I think they opened for Smashing Pumpkins way back in the day. Catherine Wheel. Anyhow, the dude (Rob Dickinson) made the entire video for "Oceans" filmed on a Nokia N93 cell phone. Crazy.
Alright. That's all for now.

American Hardcore

Generally unheralded at the time, the early 1980s hardcore punk rock scene gave birth to much of the rock music and culture that followed. There would be no Nirvana, Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers were it not for hardcore pioneers such as Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat.

Hardcore was more than music—it was a social movement created by Reagan-era misfit kids.
The participants constituted a tribe unto themselves—some finding a voice, others an escape in the hard-edged music. And while some sought a better world, others were just angry and wanted
to raise hell.

AMERICAN HARDCORE traces this lost subculture, from its early roots in 1980 to its extinction
in 1986.

Sunday surfin..

Buzzing through my RSS feeds today, I ran across the new Yahoo Food site. It looks pretty cool.. Lots of great recipes,http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif I'm not sure if it's going to be much competition with my favorite site - FoodNetwork.com, but whatever.. more food the better.
Check these crazies out at Will it Blend. They try blending odd things like Coke an d a whole Chicken - which they call "Cochiken". I wonder how many blenders they go through..
Have you seen the new Burger King commercial - Eat like a snake? Pretty silly.
Oh man, while I'm on the YouTube kick.. check out this dude that let his 14 yr old son sit in his brand new mustang - uh, son, don't start the vehicle... noooo!!
Whoa. Lance Armstrong ran the NYC Marathon today. 2:59. I'm 45 mins behind him.
Alright. Time for some sunday relaxin off the internet!

Run Forrest!

I went running yesterday after work - my first real run since the marathon. I felt pretty good, despite the blowing wind and blizarding snow fall. As I ran through this apartment community, three girls sat in the middle of the basketball court and watched me run by. As soon as I got about 20 ft. from them, they all started yelling "RUN FORREST, RUN!!" Oldest joke in the book.
So, if your really bored, you can see the pictures of me finishing the marathon. Most of the pictures were taken at the end, running through greek town. Notice me passing two veteran marathoners (white bibs). Those might have been the only two I passed, at the end, I was uh..kind of tired.
The first marathoners results also we're posted finally. In the mens 30-34 age group, out of 150 - I came in 27th place. Not too bad.
I signed up for the Detroit Turkey Trot today, and have started the tail end of the advanced 10k training plan. Lets hope its not snowing too hard or in the minus-degree temperatures that day!
