I think these videos made me snap out of the dillusional state I was in. For the past few months I've had my eye on a cheap PC laptop, just to save myself money. I've been a Mac user for, well, most of my life - but the prices are insane! I guess it boils down to.. you pay for what you get.. wait, no you get what you pay for.. or yeah, something like that. Anyhow, watch these videos, they're hilarious.

Bib # 6492 (that's me!)
Detroit Free Press Marathon, October 29, 2006I went through the whole registration process. The final cost was $69.73 ($65 plus handling fees). When it came time to hit the register button, i stared at it for a while thinking.. do I really want to do this? Run for 26 miles straight?!
I clicked the button, and I suppose from here on out, there's no turning back. There's a fella in the marathon class that I'm taking who is 62 years old. He's ran the marathon in previous years (just last year), and after seeing him, and knowing he can do it, I don't have any doubts about it now. Not that it's going to be easy, but the old guy has given me some real encouragment to go through with this.
So, I'll be sure to post my results if I'm still doing this blog come October.. even if it takes me all day to do! I just hope I finish before they start closing up to go home. :)

The Hottest Sauces Known To Man
Modern technology has provided many luxuries to us, making our lives much much easier. After trying one of these you're going to curse whoever invented these. That is, if your tongue hasn't melted.

Rob runs a lot
Yeah, if most of you don't know, I took up running almost two years ago to lose a couple pounds. I was pushing 220lbs, and when I would get to the top of the stairs at work, I felt like dying I was so out of breath. I started treadmilling/walking/running until I could go a mile or so - then began running outside. I remember doing my first 2 mile run, and being amazed at what I accomplished. Then, I tried a 5 mile run one day before work. I felt awesome afterwards. I'm running 30 or more miles a week these days, and have dropped over fiddy pounds. I ran my first 5k this year also - and am signing up for a marathon in the fall.
So why am I telling you all this?! Well, I just added a running log link to the top of the site. I keep track of my runs daily (with my handy Garmin Forerunner 201) - but thus far have been doing it in a text pad document, or on paper in my training log. This site: Buckeye Outdoors Training Site I heard about on my long run this morning while listening to my favorite running podcast Phedippidations.
Each day, I'll post my run time and notes about the run. I'm on a training plan right now, so after I log in the daily miles, I'll just need to update my times. Hopefully I'll keep this up so you all can see just how crazy I am each day - but, of course, you probably already know I'm a bit odd!
So to sum this post up, I would have to say I've proclaimed officially that I'm a running GEEK! :)

Oh, Don't Forget...
This website allows you to put your cell phone number in, a date/time and a text message reminding you of something. So, when the time comes, the text message will be sent to your phone reminding you to do whatever it is you told yourself to do!
I totally see myself using this all the time. I'm a big fan of the SMS world, and because this is free, and doesn't require registration.. of course I'll use it! In fact, I'm going to remind myself to post a comment to this blog posting an hour from now, if in fact it works.

big three one!
Today's been a GREAT day. I was able to ditch work at 1pm, which we then traveled to Michigan Brewing Company, who unveiled their Russian Imperial Stout at 4pm. I had a bowl of their amazingly hot chili and a glass of my favorite High Seas Indian Pale Ale. Now, I'm off to watch game 7 of the NHL finals with some friends and a couple Blue Moons. Ok. Pals-a-waitin. Gotta go. I'm a fresh 31.. i need to party it up!!

Hope to see you all out there, and call me if you don't know where we are - I'm sure we'll be literally crawling aorund town somewheres. :) Click here for the Monroe Pub Crawl website.

And, if your really bored this weekend - you can read Enron's email. That's right, someone has posted a couple years worth of emails from Enron and categorized them all. I spent an hour just reading all of the "Questionable" category of emails - some were cracking me up. Just goes to show you NOT to use company email for personal stuff!!
I haven't even seen the previews for Nacho Libre, but check out the site. The Third link down, there is a game that is fun as hell - it reminds me of the old Nintendo Kung-Fu game.
Alright, see you all at the crawl!

It's the thought that counts..
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- A man who would only identify himself as a hitchhiker from New York sits on a street corner in the Georgetown section of Washington DC. The man said lots of people take a look at his sign referring to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and some leave spare change. (04/25/06 AP photo)

iPods and Beer
I don't know if I buy this. Apple surpasses beer on college campuses. iPods didn't exist when I was in college, so beer was it. I have a few beer stories, but the first one that comes to mind is the time we went to the hardware store on a Tuesday afternoon with a 12 pack of beer in the back of the truck. We went inside and purchased all of the things needed to make a beer bong. The employees at the hardware store all kind of smirked at us as we held it up in the air, practicing our 'bong' techniques. A funnel, a thick (wide) tube and a clamp was all we needed.
We practically ran out to the truck to test out our new toy. Not giving it much thought, we climbed in the back of the truck and popped open a beer and started filling it up. Care free (or crazy), there we stood in a crowded parking lot bonging a couple beers - before we realized we should probably go somewhere else (behind the building).
Needless to say, that beer bong became a party staple.. remind me to tell you about the time we talked a guy into bonging three 40 ouncers out of it! Lets just say beer barf on a hot third floor dorm awaiting the Monday janitors all weekend isn't a pleasant smell.

dude.
Here's my nephew collin. Him and the fam came to visit us in Indiana this past week. I thought this was a sweet picture. Makes me wonder what he's thinking about - probably wondering why his crazy uncle is taking pictures in the dark.
