Northern Indiana Beer

I decided to take one of my vacation days and head across the state and check out some Indiana beer. The trip went well and I met a lot of nice folks. I threw together a video which pretty much sums up the trip. The only thing I left out were video of the campground I stayed at. I found a party, met some hippies, met some German girls on a road trip, played some guitar and had a blast. The weather was good too for me, until the next day when I was getting ready to leave it down-poured but didn't last too long.
So - enjoy the corny video I put together - I find errors in it everytime I watch it, so I'm just saying heck with it - and posting it. :)

Nascar!

So we got back from vacation and I headed right out again to Michigan International Speedway for my first ever Nascar weekend. I arrived on Friday afternoon, set up my pup-tent and was immediately talked into a game of corn-hole. Dang did I get good at that over the next day. Otherwise tho, I had a blast. I played guitar for everyone in the immediate 100 yd. vicinity (most of which came over and watched or shook my hand the next day - dang, you'd think I was a rock star!), got rides from various people around the campground, met tons of people from canada, wisconsin, ohio, etc. Had a couple of beers, met some hippies, played more corn-hole and was finally told "Hey dude, you know it's 5 a.m.?".. oops!
I had an absolute ball though, and will for sure head back next year. Needless to say, we didn't even get to see the race. I actually headed home on Saturday evening because of the rain. The race finally happened on Tuesday, and a fella named Kurt Busch won (whoever that is). Anyhow, I figured I should report this to anyone who might be a bit leery of heading out to a Nascar event - guaranteed, you'll have a blast!

Well, I figured since I had a few extra minutes, I'd update everyone on my past week. We headed up to Kalkaska, MI on Friday, August 10th. We hit up Spikes Keg O' Nails in Grayling first - one of my favorite norther watering holes to stop at before the cabin. The rest of the week was spent tooling around Traverse, Charlevoix, Petosky, etc. We stopped at Shorts Brewing - which was awesome. Their Oompa Luma IPA was some of the best I've had this year. We ended the trip with a stop at Michigan Brewing Co. where I finally tried their Imperial IPA, and I wasn't disappointed. Very, very good. We golfed too. I wouldn't say we did good, but we had a fun time whackin the ball around. Check out the flicker pics (click the picture to the right) to see more vaca pics.

Last week I hung out with my new Monroe beer brewing friends and watched my first ever beer brewing process. I threw this video together from several snippets I took during the brew. I learned a whole lot, and am excited to get my brew on!

Hey McDonalds - Piss off!

Reason #465 to hate and boycott McD's. They are freaking charging for their wi-fi! I couldn't believe it when we sat down with our coffees, expecting to read the news and hang out - and up pops a $2.95 + tax fee for a 2 hour block. C'mon McDonalds!! So, here I sit outside of a coffee shop that is closed on Sundays, checking email, blogging, etc. Believe me though, I'll be back here to support their business with the free wi-fi access. Hard to believe the big corporation hasn't figured it all out yet..
