Smoked Turkey
Brine
The day before, I did a dry brine. Add various seasonings to a base of sea salt. I took about 1/2 cup of sea salt, and added thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, pepper, and some chicken grill seasoningRobhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03204777571892408996noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8996564.post-45879889225867688972018-04-09T15:27:00.000-04:002018-04-09T15:27:00.320-04:00Keto Scotch EggsI’ve been on a low carb/keto kick for the past few years. This year I’ve been more strict with cutting out carbs/sugar and seeing great results. I tried a couple different recipes for Scotch Eggs and decided this version is the best. I had made this crust for chicken a week before, and thought it would be good to try on the scotch eggs. It turned out perfect! Ingredients:

Today marks one year of stepping outside every day to go for a run. 365 days of running!
While it sounds crazy, try searching (hashtag) #runstreak on Twitter. You'll find runners that have over 1,000 days of running under their belt.
What is a run streak? Basically, running every single day. Everyone creates their own rules. My rules were pretty simple. Yet another reason I love Google products. They continue to make basic utilities even better. I've been wanting to try this out for a while, so yesterday at the Lagrange St. Polish Festival in Toledo, OH, I had the good camera. You'll notice I strategically shot a series of photos of a girl walking into a porta-potty. Oh yeah, the kids on the ride too.. :)

I've been wanting to dabble in bike riding for a while now. I rode bikes all growing up, and thinking back, we didn't just peddle around the neighborhood, we rode for miles and miles daily. We didn't think much of it, we were kids and had endless amounts of energy.
While I don't have endless amounts of energy these days, I do try and keep active. A few years ago, I was on a brewing schedule where I'd brew 5-10 gallons every 2 weeks. I was constantly rotating taps, and having friends over to sample the beers regularly (obviously pre-kids days). I've slowed down considerably, but haven't lost the touch. Getting things organized was the toughest part, but after I started the process went as easy as ever.

For the past few years, I've entered my name into a drawing to run Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day. Each year, the lottery type drawing selects 500 qualified runners to participate.
This year, I finally got the magical email. "I won a major award!" I told a few friends. After I finally told them what it was I won, they all looked at me like I was crazy.  Robhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03204777571892408996noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8996564.post-3986070956919787982012-07-02T09:40:00.000-04:002012-07-02T11:36:23.292-04:00Cornhole 101
Tis the season for the popular midwest backyard game Cornhole. Every year, I dust off my boards, drag them out to the yard and pace off the 27 foot distance between each board. And, every year, as the first bags start to fly, the same conversation begins: "Do I get 3 points for that going in the hole?" .. "Does that one on the board cancel the one in the hole out?" I remember my first pot roast. I called my mom and had her give me step by step instructions over the phone. I had just received a crock pot for Christmas and was anxious to try it out. My typical version of a roast called for onions, carrots, maybe some potatoes. I'd add a little water, and let it slow cook all day. We cut cable in the fall, and I mean completely cut it. We don't have an antenna for local stations, so we basically rely on the $7.99 a month Netflix streaming package, and our Roku box for television entertainment. We hardly watch TV anymore, most of our viewing consumption is done via streaming iPad or phone.
